Community
Giving back to our community is elemental at Coastal Franchising. As Dunkin’ franchisees, we are contributors to the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, an independent 501c3 organization powered by Dunkin’ and its franchisees, partners, employees and guests. Their mission is to provide the simple joys of childhood to kids battling hunger or illness.
We also execute our own fundraising efforts for local non-profit organizations such as Special Olympics of North and South Carolina.
MUSC Children’s Hospital
Coastal Franchising and Dunkin’s Joy in Childhood Foundation have given over $1 million to the Medical University of South Carolina’s Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital to support their programs, including providing two in-house service dogs who are trained to do tasks like teaching kids how to take a pill, keeping children calm during medical intervention, providing incentives for a child to get out of bed to walk and overall having a positive impact on the healing process.
Coastal supports the annual Reindeer Run and provides donuts and coffee for numerous events at the Children’s Hospital.
UNC Children’s Hospital
Coastal Franchising has given over $500,000 to UNC Children’s Hospital, where our CEO, George Ross, sits on the Board of Directors. Along with grants, we kept many of their healthcare workers running during the height of Covid and regularly delight the children’s wing with donut deliveries.
We have also developed joint partnerships with the hospital and UNC Tar Heel Athletics to host donut decorating contests, support events and help to bolster the hospital’s mission.
Special Olympics
Coastal Franchising has given over $500,000 to Special Olympics of North Carolina and South Carolina to help provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship.
Special Olympics representatives are involved in most of our Grand Opening celebrations and we support their annual events such as the Torch Run, Over the Edge and the Polar Plunge.
